Every core tracking feature is free and always will be. Pro, not on
sale yet, will add the reporting and money-tracking layer on top.
Either way, your tracking history lives on your computer, and
anything you choose to sync is encrypted before it leaves.
Paid does not mean uploaded. Your tracking history stays
in a local database on your own machine on every plan. Weekly report
emails contain only app names, project names and durations. Never window
titles, and never the contents of your work.
Questions
Does the free plan expire?
No. Free is free permanently, with no trial countdown and no locked core features. Pro is an addition, not a paywall dropped over things you already had.
Where is my time data stored?
In a database file on your own computer. Nothing is uploaded on its own, on any plan. If you enable weekly reports, a small summary (app names, project names and durations) is sent so the email can be built. If you turn on sync between your computers Next update, your sessions are encrypted on your computer first, with a passphrase only you know, so only your own devices can read them.
Does SmartTime work on a Mac?
Yes. SmartTime runs on Windows 10 and 11, and on Mac Next update. Automatic tracking, the dashboard and reports, and encrypted sync work on both, and you can link a Mac and a Windows PC to see them together. Three things are different on a Mac for now. macOS asks you to allow Accessibility and Screen Recording, so SmartTime can see which window is in front; nothing on your screen is recorded. The app is not yet notarised by Apple, so the first time you open it you right-click it and choose Open. And new versions are installed by downloading them, not automatically.
When can I buy Pro?
Not yet. Pro is built and the features listed above are working, but it is not on sale. SmartTime will tell you inside the app the day it opens. There is nothing to sign up for and no waiting list.
How do I cancel, once Pro is on sale?
Cancel any time and Pro stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. There is no cancellation fee and no minimum term.
What happens to my data if I stop paying?
Nothing. Your history lives on your computer, so dropping to Free never deletes anything. You keep full tracking and all the free reports, and simply stop receiving the Pro extras.
What about the roadmap items on the Pro card?
Those are intent, not a delivery date. Everything under "Built and ready at launch" already works today; everything under "On the roadmap" does not exist yet. Judge Pro on the first list when it does go on sale.
Which payment methods will work?
Major credit and debit cards, processed on Hyp's secure hosted page. Card details are entered on their servers and never reach SmartTime.
